Colour crush. The beautiful Peony flower.

With the change of the season well under way (i know this because our hay fever allergies are definitely here) the spring is bringing a vibrancy with it. The sunshine is in my soul. The flower colours are saying “Hello” here i am.

And of course October is the only month, running slightly into November, that Peony flowers bloom locally. I am not patient enough to grow these beauties.

A very old bloom,  standing true to its meaning. “King of flowers”, these darlings rule their season.

They generally mean Prosperity, good luck, love and honour. What a beautiful bloom to include in a wedding or gift to someone who has just had a baby.

These beauties’ can actually change colour. This one featured is coral charm, and they turn a magical soft apricot over time.  The plant itself can live for 100 years. Wow. They like to stick around and remind us of their time to shine.

I’m based in the Riverina, Greater Hume regional area. There are some growers in the hills near Tumut/Tumba, but we can access them via our Victorian wholesalers, and if you want a Blousy bloom to make an impact, this is your girl.
